Ebony/Dark/Black on Black
She moves across the floor
Always in the shadow that she casts
Never making eye contact
Yet always has a partner at the dance
Smokey rooms obscure hearts
Reveals the lusts therein, it's clear
She's the commodity they hold dear
Til the light of dawn makes cinders here
Ebony, tonight, my love
Why do you wear gloves to touch me
You own all you're grasping, darling
Come into the light and let me see
Darkened lace slips to the floor
Reveals to him more of the same
They make use yet not lay claim
To the blood under the layers of her face
And Dark runs the rivers of her veins
Dark shadows under eyes of pain
Dark is all the world will ever see
And Dark is what she has received
No matter how they pull her open
Piece by piece, skin white as snow
Ebony will forever be
Black on black
Dark underneath
